This is where I got my first alien, Heat Blast, and unlocked its set of attack moves. It’s basically a giant platforming section with enemies to defeat and jumping sections to overcome. The developer explained that the void is directly tied to Hex and players will visit it several times in the game. At first you are tasked with playing a music cassette from the forest’s watchtower (just because!), which somehow opens up a portal to the ‘void’. Ben can move around the map using his scooter and can shift into any of aliens from the four assigned slots. The game opens up with a bunch of tutorials missions that shows you the lay of the land. The developer, who was watching my stream, noted that they didn’t have a set personality trait for Ranger Ryan, so Baker completely winged it in the voice booth, coming up with a Kiwi-Australian accent and a slightly nervous trait for the character. The game has the original voice cast, including Tara Strong as Ben, John DiMaggio as Four Arms, and even Troy Baker, as Ranger Ryan and as one of the main villains in the game. Of course, Ben and his smattering of alien buddies are required to bring order to the world and restore peace. Featuring an original story, the game starts off with Ben and his family vacationing in Europe somewhere - and in this part of the game - in a forest, when the evil Hex decides to do his evil things - unleash the power of four mysterious crystals. Over my twenty minutes hands-on session, streamed through a special software on PC, I got to play a small chunk of what the game had to offer.
